The project starts with a simple conviction: thoughtful decisions made while life is calm can spare families confusion during the hardest days of their lives.
Design principles
- Friendly, conversational and non-threatening
- AI throughout, but humans remain in control
- Accessible by design: screen readers, contrast, large text, keyboard, mobile and tablet
- International and multilingual by design
- Zero-knowledge / end-to-end encryption wherever feasible
- The archive should survive the software
- Long-lived custody and successor planning so the user’s legacy does not depend on the startup surviving
- Authentic source material and AI-generated material are always clearly distinguished
Core aspiration: Digital Departures does not have to survive for your Digital Departure to survive.
